Residence permit renewal

yat123

Hello guys!

How many weeks/months does it take to renew my residence permit in Belgium? A bit confused. I'm waiting for one month with 14 days. Does it take this much?

Thanks!

Hello

nope, something's wrong.

Normaly it takes 5 days in smaller commune and up to 2 weeks in the biggest one.
Now, are you also waitinf for a work permit / renewal? That would explain the delay

It might be a good idea to ping your commune~

Thanks, Alex for your response!

It's not a work permit. Just residence permit. I tried to contact the city hall via email. They replied that your application for renewal is too late. Actually, I submitted it four days before the expiry date. I don't understand why they say "too late".

Well, normally you have to request the new card one month before the expiration date... because they can be slow to talk together (commune/immigration/police/...)
Depending on the commune, it's super fast (like national one) or it takes up to 1 month from what I've been reading for years on this forum.
