Local Commune Register - Antwerp

Post new topic

wiltonrcn

Hello guys,

I'm aware that when arriving in Belgium it's necessary to register at the local commune in order to get the Belgium id and stuff. I would like to know which documents are needed for Antwerp. I've read that depending of the city some places can request extra documents as birth certificate and others. Do you guys have any idea so I can prepare those documents while I'm still on my homeland?

Thanks!

Depend on type of registration you are going to do best to approach city hall. They will guide you with the required documents

Hi Everyone.  I have tried to go online to for commune registration in ANTWERP but it is not working.  Can someone tell me where I can physically go to do this.  Thanks for your help.

Aneesh

Google "stad antwerpen" and you will find their contact information and location.

I tried going to the commune but the city Hall is closed for renovations.
Still trying to find out how one can do it.
There is an option of E-loket but it says will get a response in 6 weeks and I wanted a faster reply or process.

Adeyola

Please use your Google map and go to Deurne or Harmonie City halls. They are working and receiving.

Cheers.

Thanks.. will do that.. But doesn't one have to register in their own commune?
Like I'm staying in 2018 and I was told that I have to go to the one near Grotto Market.

Hi

I had applied for the Residence card on 14 Feb and today I received an email that I've been given an appointment for 28 April. I understand that police verification happens between now and my appointment. Can anyone guide me if there is any specific time they come for it. Like Monday- Friday 9am -6pm or they can come on weekends as well.
Thanks

Kendy Makere

They come unannounced and anytime. If u not home they do return. But generally they come in the evenings

Aneesh

If they come when you are not there, they usually drop a paper in your mailbox. Make sure you have your name on the mailbox and the bell.

Thank you so much guys for your suggestions.

Hello,

I came to Belgium with a single permit (and Visa type D) and I registered online on Antwerpen's city hall website on the 21st of February 2023 under the category "Application for newcomers", I received an auto-generated email saying it will take up to 3 weeks before I get an answer now 3 weeks have passed and I still didn't get any answer.

Is there anyone else who had a similar experience?

bhargavmanivala

@Expat_1034 Hello,

One doubt, I will also be in a similar situation next month as i am moving to Antwerp in April. I wanted to know, after registering online, Can you start working for your employer after receiving the auto-generated mail?

Expat_1034

@bhargavmanivala In my experience, If you have your work permit (from Flanders authorities) + Annex 46 (from Federal authorities) + type D visa (from the Belgian embassy) you can start working even before you have registered online.

@Expat_1034, Hai, you have eney updates

Expat_1034

@Hiba Fathima P. S Hello, yes, I have received my eID already.

Originally, I got an appointment for end of May to submit my documents in the commune but since I wasn't available on that date I requested to change the date of appointment. They gave me an earlier appointment in the start of May.

BirdsEyeView

@Ramu7867 I applied on the 1st of may and I'm still waiting for their contact...

Ramu7867

Surely they should give some kind of document to say registration is in process. I check my locket site everyday but no update. Did you have any joy at the commune?

Nadeem Sahi

@Aneesh Hi brother I have registered online for address in Antwerp and I think a police man will come to check I'm waiting since 25 August how long will take this process and normally what time they use to come so I stay at home. so I can get my national number then work

Aneesh

Usually 2-3 weeks. It depends on the workload of the police station. You may also visit the police station and ask if they visited or plan to visit soon :)

Nkechi1

hello all, i have read through the post and I am not sure how to go about the registeration. i am supposed to register myself within 8 days of getting to antwerp.

I cant find any information regarding this on their website. Am i supposed to go to their office without an appointment and if so, which documents do i need please?

thanks for your help!

PipUK1

My visa D was rejected due to late submission and I was told to contact the immigration office. They then told me to contact the commune of antwerp but I'm now a bit lost. Any help on where I should look to make an appointment would be greatly appreciated.
