Mutuelle Belgium for my wife

Hello guys,

Hope you can help.
I live and work in Bruxelles and I have my Partena Mutuelle.

I just got married and my wife will move to Belgium soon: it is clear to me that she will be covered by my insurance if she is dependant and she does not work.

My question is: since she might Get a job soon, does she need to subscribe to partena mutuelle as well if she works, or as a family we can just rely on my health insurance?

Thanks in advance

Fulvio

Ciao,

the answer is a bit more complex that that as it depends on the nationality of your spouse and if she needs a visa or not.

If she's EU, then she'll be cover by her home country for the first week she's settling in Belgium. Then she'll need to fall back to the belgian health insurance system (mutelle)
Under your care or on her own name if she starts working.

If she's not-EU and need a visa, you'll have to get a certificate from your mutuelle that your spouse is covered under your own insurrance.

In any case, she'll have to pay her own mutuelle once she starts working, and so, she'll not depend on yours anymore (except specific case, but that's not related to your question)

Thank you very much Alex. Very clear!

We are both Italian by the way.
