I live and work in Khobar, Saudi Arabia. I would like to ask if I can sponsor my American wife and kids to get a Bahrain residence card? I am a Saudi national.

You should be able to but you would need to have proof of residence in Bahrain. And they should be on your sponsorship in Saudi. These applications are done directly with NPRA so you can approach them to get the correct updated details.

I am planning on getting an apartment in Bahrain. They are not under my sponsorship in Saudi because the process here is extremely long and expensive.

That is the tricky bit as the ones I know off, the family members all have an Iqama. You can check with NPRA as to what can be done.
