Moving costs - HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post new topic

Xewkija bound

I have just been given a quote of £4600inc VAT, but excluding customs and import taxes to move my stuff to Gozo

This seems extortionate

In bulk all I have is a smart car,1 bed, 1 small chest of draws and a corner suite

The remainder would be about 20 standard removal boxes

Surely there has to be a cheaper option

Can anyone help. I am committed to move and need to sort this out a bit quick

I have a guy in Malta who can collect and take the car back to Gozo for 800E

So the rest surely I can do for less than £3800

or can i??????

HELP!!!!

There should be no custom or import tax if from within the EU.
So I would say that the quote is not a bad price.
However €800 to collect the car from the docks and take it to Gozo is a rip off. You can do it yourself for the cost of the fuel, so less than 30€ !

Try fastlane on the internet it's £1,500 for a 20 ft container to malta which you can easily fit a car and stuff in, haven't really gone into it so may be more hidden costs but it was the cheapest I found when I was looking

Ha ha, Terry, the 800E was to collect from the UK!!!!

George it was a 20ft container,

Thanks for everyone's replies, perhaps I was underestimating when budgeting then!! My bad

So stick the car in the container and save yourself 800€.
Don't forget you can fill the car with stuff when its in the container and save space.

for a 20 ft container that seems reasonable if they are doing the packing

Dianne do you have a contact name at fastlane , Ive been on their web site and cannot find a quote cost for a 20 ft container, did you speak to someone? We have just looked at a shipping on other sites and companies and if this fastlane is acurate then this is a fantasic price for a 20ft container would allow me to bring everything I need in one trip
