Planning to live and work in Malta through spouse

Post new topic

mrfin

Hi there,

My long-term partner (UK/Maltese dual national) and I wish to get married in Malta and plan to immigrate there from the UK.

Does being married to a Maltese citizen allow me:

  1. To live indefinitely in Malta?
  2. To access health care or will I need my own insurance?
  3. To work in Malta?

I have looked at the identita website, but it's so confusing and cannot make head or tail of these simple questions.

Any help or experience with this process would be much appreciated!

Many thanks

Fin

If your partner was Maltese and moved to the UK to exercise Free Movement and then became British then you can likely use a Surinder Singh right to move back as a family. This would require you to have been together in the UK before 2021.
