I would like to know if my present employer in Bahrain would get a notification from the immigration authorities at the airport if I travel out of Bahrain for a short weekend getaway and return, I have an interview to attend in Oman and dont want to highlight it so I am not really keen on telling them that I am stepping out for a couple of days (I dont find a reason to do so). My passport will be with me for a couple of days, which I am taking it by a standard request. My employer is a big business firm with over 1000 employees. It would be great help if someone answers this for me, Thank you.

Your employer is not allowed to withhold your passport, visa or CPR by Bahrain law.

Your employer will not be informed of your flight either.

We travel a lot and my husbands employer is never informed. That whole process would take too long and would be very time consuming

Enjoy your journey and good luck for the interview

Farhaz

No one will know nor do they need to know what you do on a weekend getaway. Just go ahead. Be stress free. Do well. Best wishes for the interview.

kphbahrain

Thanks guys !!

Farhaz

Just bear in mind, that your employer will be able to see the fresh Oman immigration stamps on your passport, if they (illegally) hold on to your passport upon your return. All you need to do is to have a good explanation for your trip if they do find the visa stamps and ask you what you were doing in Oman.

kphbahrain

Haha yes thats possible Farhaz, I doubt if they have so much time to sit and check my passport though. Thanks

brightonguy

I don't think you should hide this from your employer though. Is there a travel ban or something on your passport?

kphbahrain

Well, I think a person can travel freely So i am not sure if I need to tell if I have a interview will it make sense ? I dont have a Travel Ban, if i do, I wont be able to leave right ?

brightonguy

Then you should be ok. Enjoy your trip and good luck.

Josnuggles

I wouldn't hand my passport back to my employer if I was you. They have no rights to ask for it and it is illegal

mnahmed

Well I know its illegal but who is to be told about it ?>
Is there any authority in Bahrain which one can complain to about it, It seems irrespective of the employer grade or position all private organisations are keeping the passport and nobody really says anything about it :(

Farhaz

Not all private organizations keep their employees passports. I have always held on to my passport. Never has any employer even dared ask for it so far. My passport belongs to the Government of my country.

But I know what you mean. Whilst there are laws that prohibit retention of employee passports by employers, many do not follow these laws. It is upto us to take a stand and refuse to hand over our passports to employers who demand them.

Whats the worst that could happen? They may terminate our services. Much better not to work for such employers anyway.

mnahmed

Thanks, Farhan, which body should one report to or complain to when the employer takes the passport for so called Safekeeping ?

Farhaz

I am not too sure. I would speak to the Embassy of my country as a first step and seek their assistance and counsel.

Dear  Friends,

Please help me with below questions so that I can travel Confidently.

Will My Employer in Bahrain will be notified that I have crossed Bahrain borders or entered in Saudi Arabia?

I am Indian and working in Bahrain having visa until 2024. I want to travel to Saudi Arabia.

As you know there is no embassy of Poland here in Bahrain. Hence, I decided to travel to Saudi - Riyadh for Poland Embassy. But I am scared.

I red all above twits related to travelling to Saudi from Bahrain But its old twit.  Now its 2023.

Please advise, I look forward to your kind response.

Regards, Thanks for your valuable time to help me out.

XTang

Not notified but they can always log in to EMS to see which employee is in or out of the country.

pragneshbhatt2

ok ok Thanks soo much it means a Lot. I will be absent only for a day - so I think then It is possible to travel.

However, on this response, I have a question that-- will Poland embassy will take my passport for Visa stamping or they will give it back the same day. Because they will not inform me about rejection or approval of my visa on the same day itself. And if they keep with them then how will I return back to Bahrain without passport.

Please anyone - advise me.

Thanks for helping me out.

XTang

I have no idea about polish embassy guidelines. Maybe ask them if after interview you go back to Bahrain and courier them the passport.

pragneshbhatt2

Yes, that's right, Sure I will definitely ask them.

Thanks for your time and advise. With this at-least I got some new thoughts.
