Hi,

I live in Bergen and need a new bank account.  In England there are very few charges applied to banking but here in Norway I see that some banks charge for many different things.  Can any one tell me what bank has the lowest charges in Norway.  My basic banking needs are to pay some cash into the account and use net banking for transfer to different accounts - rent, bills etc

Any help gratefully received

Rob

Hello,

I use DNB, because they have online banking in English and English-speaking call centres. At least they did when I moved here and didn't speak Norwegian. I'm not aware of paying any charges, although the interest rates aren't good. If it's just for having a salary paid into and paying bills and things, I think it would be fine.

Online banks are the cheapest in Norway, www.skandiabanken.no being the leader in that market. You will have limited offers though if you want English speaking services.
