Post new topic

ladyowl

Hi  We are moving to Malta next June to live.  Our Daughter is taking a gap year from University and coming to Malta for a year starting next July 2013.  She will go to Malta July stay 4 weeks and then go back to the UK for her exam results.  She will then return to Malta in August and wants to stay for 1 year.  Will she be allowed to do this and remain a UK citizen as she will be starting Uni the following Sept 2014.

Thank you for your reply.  If our daughter stays in Malta for 3 months then returns to the uk for 1 week will she be able to come back to Malta for another 3 months in the same year.

yes, she remains a tourist - however, if she's in Malta for more than 6 months in a calendar year she needs to fill in a Maltese tax return ie you can be tax resident but not resident from an immigration point of view.
