Hello,I know that at first we will have ordinary residency but afterwards we want to ask for maltese citizenship but I don´t know how long we have to live there for getting the citizenship. And we have our reasons why we don´t want to have Slovak citizenship, that is why we are moving from SK - everything is upside down in this country..

Unless you have family members who are Maltese its extremely difficult to get citizenship

One for you george - is there any advantage to having it

I always assumed no real advantage for EU citizens....i suppose there could be should your home country pull out of the EU

big disadvantage is that you are then liable to tax on your worldwide income

main advantage ? you can vote in general elections
