Hi,

Is it popular to share a flat or a house in Kuwait?

What advice would you give to those looking for shared accommodation in Kuwait?

Can you recommend specialized local websites or newspapers?

By the way, keep in mind there is a flat share/house share section in the classifieds ;)

Thank you in advance for your participation and advice!

Hi

I think the rule doesn't allows that, but there are lots n lots who share their flat with other couples or bachelors, dont there is any rule for that in kuwait.

As far as I know sharing flats/apartments/houses is not allowed but majority of the expats do that just as long as the flat holder is an authentic married couple (with valid documents).

Advertisement for such can only be found through posters around town or on expat websites since it's illegal.

here is what i do know:

most flat owners will clearly state "families only", "no bachelors" this is meant to deter laborers etc from seeking accommodation. it is perfectly acceptable for university graduate bachelors to co-share apartments with other bachelors in this building, they usually have a floor cordoned off for them, they will accept uni grads as bachelors.

when it comes to mixed gender co-sharing, that is where i know nothing unfortunately. it can be done given that the people are western, very if not extremely difficult for arabs to do so as one of the main requests when applying for a lease agreement as a mixed couple is a marriage certificate, heck, even to stay in a hotel room if ur a resident in kuwait u need a marriage certificate.

so yes, thats about it.

Hello,

I am very interested as well in any resources for renting a room in a flat or house.

I assume things open up for the holidays since people leave on vacation?

I am a neuropsychologist from California and will be working as a visiting specialist in Kuwaiti clinic from Dec 14 to Jan 14. Would be nice to find room to rent. (The classifieds here don't seem to have any recently posted rooms for rent).

thanks!
Omar

well, hotel prices are a bit steep in Kuwait, same with furnished flats. ur best bet is to find someone looking to share a flat for a few weeks, or however long u are here for.

maybe post an ad in the classifieds here?

that could work :)
