Hello,

Nice joining the forum . I am from Nigeria, am an Elevator technician. I have over 8 years experience on the job . Installation of Elevators, repairs and maintenance on the field. Unfortunately, I have no certificate to back it up. I really love to move to the Netherland to become a certified technician.

Questions

1) how can I be certified on the job?

2) can I get an institution or school to be trained on the job?

3) did anyone has such experience before?

I really need your advise and it will be highly appreciated.

Looking forward to your response.

Thank you

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

To get any decent job anywhere, you need 4 things:

  • Relevant experience
  • Relevant qualifications
  • Speak the local language
  • Luck

You have some experience, but no qualifications in an industry that is heavily dependent on qualifications and certification.  All you can do is try the internet and Google for lift engineer jobs in the Netherlands, apply for them and see how you get on.

Be careful of scammers, these people search the internet for people such as yourself and place fake adverts to try and attract you; Whatever you do, do not hand over any money to anybody, there are no charges for helping somebody, legitimate agencies get paid by the companies using their services to find employees.

In the meantime, learn to speak Dutch.

I hope this helps.
