Trip to San Miguel De Allende - passport issues

Should have done a better job checking my US passport. Expires Feb 2024. Too late to renew here: 9 weeks needed on expedite. Will fit the six months I want to spend in Sam Miguel De Allende if I leave on time. I understand that the guest or visitor visa is now stamped on the passport. That could mean that I cannot send it off to the embassy in Mexico City to renew. I also have an EU/Italy passport with much more time on it. Would using the EU passport on entry to Mexico by air present a problem? Assuming I fall in love with SMA or environs and want to extend, what are my possibilities. Will look into that, but appreciate any experiences you share.

@antoniodistefano9 You can renew it in San Miguel De Allende by going the US Consulate there. Appointments are made online and are about 4-5 months out. Once at the appointment, you will get your new passport sent to you at the address of your choice in about 2 months. They will give you back your old passport with holes in it, so you will still have the stamped pages in your possession.

Here is the email if you want to ask them about it. They are very good at responding. ConAgencySanMiguel@state.gov or call 55 8526 2561.
