Registering as handicapped in Belgium or in Italy

belmarino

We are a family of 4 planning to move to Italy sometime later this year for work (company transfer). I am the sole earning member of the family. Few months ago I fell off the steps in my house, seriously injured my one knee and had a few surgeries. Post the operations, it's definitely not the way it was before and will never be. After consultation with my doctor, he said I am eligible for an handicapped status in Belgium.

Since we are planning the move to Italy shortly, are there any advantages or disadvantages in applying for the handicap status here in Belgium or leave it the way it is here and apply for the status in Italy when I register there later this year? If I am registered as handicapped in Belgium does it make the process any smoother in Italy?

My concern is from an administrative perspective in Italy if it will matter if I was already registered handicapped in Belgium or not?
