Single permit processing 2025

Anyone applied for renewal during December 2025 Brussels region. For my case applied on 16/12/2025 and status changed to 'In treatment by Region' in the next day. After that no update. Not even admissible status! Anyone having similar experience?

I got my renewal of WP from the Region (BRU) very quickly, something like under one month, but my RP with IBZ is still under review since 27 OCT 2025. 

Hi All, here is my timeline for renewal:

Application: 3 Sep 2025

WP: 6 Oct 2025

Annex 46: 15 Jan 2026

Does any one know whether it makes to sense to send an email to IBZ (their website suggests doing this instead of calling them)?  The little issue I am starting to encounter is that my bank is already requesting an updated ID, in addition to the impossibility of going to a doctor with an expired ID Card.  There are certainly other limitations, such as being completely cut off the e-government services, and obviously, Annex 49 is of no great help.  Is this something that IBZ can take into account to expedite their examination of my dossier?

what is the status of your SP application? WP approved? RP?

Hello everyone, I have a question. My work permit application was submitted on 01/12/2025 and approved on 10/12/2025, and I am still waiting for the single permit.

My question is: my passport is valid until 31/10/2026—will this be sufficient for the immigration office? The requirements only mention that a valid passport is needed not validation period and do not specify a minimum validity period.

That should be enough.  The looming expiry date of your passport is your responsibility.  If your passport expires and you still have a valid Belgian ID, then you won't be able to travel, implying that you will need to replace your passport.

congrats,  you applied for postdoc?

I got my RP approved on 5 FEB, however, IBZ appears to have made an error, listing me as "seconded worker".  Although it does not change anything in terms of the A Card to be issued, it is an entirely different status, so my employer is going to request rectification.  I can't believe this - after almost four months of examination of the renewal, an error is made.  I hope the rectification is possible.

I am currently a PhD student living in Belgium, and my residence card will expire at the end of March. I plan to continue as a postdoctoral researcher, and the university submitted my first single permit application yesterday.

I understand that the Annex 46 (approval to reside) may take more than two months to be issued. My concern is how I can legally remain in Belgium during the gap period (from 1 April until the Annex 46 is granted). I expected I will get the work permit before my card expried.

Could I get some sort of temporatory extension until I get annex 46.

Hi,

if your RP expires before Annex 46 is issued, you can visit the commune and get Annex 49 a temporary residence document which covers your stay legally while you wait for the final decision. If WP is granted you can technically start your work but always check with you university.
