Best way to transfer money from US to Dominican bank account

I use Paysend and Ulink, instant transfers, extremely low transfer fees.  I DM'd you with more details.

I use the Western Union app. Foreign bank>Dom bank. Also low fees and fast transfers.

I receive transfers on a regular basis from Remitly and it seems to work well

I write myself a check from my US bank dollar account to the DR bank dollar account. No fees, but between a 7 and 15 day wait.

Great thread, I never thought about using Remitly or some of the other suggestions others made.  I’ll have to look into trying them.

For me I initiate online bank wires from my US bank for payment into my Dominican account.  The transfer is instant and the funds are normally available for use the day of.

There’s usually a small wire fee required, but that’s been my go to method for the past 2 and a half years.

Remitly is good for smaller amounts, but they have a limit to how much money you can send (both weekly and monthly).  Check with your bank to see if you can sign up for wire transfers.  That's what I did (I have Regions).  It didn't cost me anything to add it to my account, and I can do a wire anytime for as much money as I want (well, we all know there is a $10K limit before they notify Uncle Sam so I usually do not send more then that unless I have a legitimate reason to give to the IRS if they come calling).

Wise works very well from US to DR.  The fee depends on the amount.  First transfer takes a few days, after that 24 to 48 hours

Remitly works well, except this and all other services beat you on the exchange rate, the worst is xoom

You could also take a look at Boss Revolution they have been pretty reliable for us. You did not mention it but I’m hoping you are receiving in US dollars. As these money transfer places exchange at a much lower rate than you can get yourself.

I’ve used Western Union for the last 4 years , never a problem….. for larger amounts I write a check to myself and deposit it my account , I’ll wait for it to clear , what’s the rush your in paradise

Be advised that Western Union is going to start implementing a 1% tax on international transactions starting January 1 2026. It will only affect transfers that involve Cash, Cashiers Checks or Money Orders.

remitly is cheaper than WU!

Also, beware again, Nov 1 Banco Popular is raising all the tariffs or fees , and tacking a percentage for any inbound international transfers if you bank with BPD

I use the Scotia Bank ATM with my BOA debit card. There is a daily limit on withdrawals from the ATM. I think $500US dollars dispensed in Pesos. It hasn't been expensive. No standing in long lines with passport in hand.
