The US wants in on QRIS

Fred

QRIS is an extremely popular, safe, and easy way to pay for pretty much anything in Indonesia.

It's so popular, a lot of shops and restaurants hardly use anything else. You still see the odd card payment, but most are QRIS.

Many places have gone cashless, the standard payment being QRIS.

The US doesn't like it because Indonesia didn't get their permission.

I'll leave the reader to decide the rights and wrongs, but I count to three on my fingers and show that one to Trump.

On my last visit to Indonesia I struggled with taxi drivers taking cash unless I had small denominations. I’m fairly sure that they use QRIS for easier payments. Fine with me but apparently I was told that without an Indonesian bank account I cannot use this facility 🧐

Fred

It is available on banking apps, but also gojek and other non-banking platforms.

The issue would be, how to top up your gopay.

Lotus Eater

@Fred

Yes I have both Grab & Gojek but as you say I seem to recall I could not top up the Gopay account.

Am I missing something or are all non Indonesian citizens caught in this cash only farce?

Fred

Cards, dear chap, cards.

You could probably get a gojek driver to top you in in exchange for cash and a ten thousand tip.

Now dumbo Trump and his pals want US food imports exempt from halal certification.

Oi, you fat pillock, Indonesia is 86% Muslim, so live with your ultra processed crap in the non-halal sections of supermarkets.
