Announced several months ago, the paid visa will take effect from April 2, 2025. Here's what you need to know.

Mandatory Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)

The era of free movement has ended. From April 2, every European national will need an ETA to enter British territory. This visa, costing approximately 12 euros, will be available for application via dedicated apps starting March 5, 2025. The ETA is valid for two years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first, and permits multiple stays in the United Kingdom, each up to six months in duration. Exemptions include students on school trips, nationals with dual nationality (including British or Irish), or travelers transiting through a British airport.
