My employer checked estimated from IBZ for residence permit, they replied saying that from WP to RP is currently taking 10-12 weeks
ā¦. Not too great
@augcetoile unfortunate that it is getting slower than previous months. Hopefully it is because of the summer break.
@OlTr hi. my director checked this for me in the flanders government website and he updated me once in every 10 days. now we are waiting for RP which he said he will help to push the immigration department.
My timeline
Single permit - 1st time application - Flanders
Iām not certain when my application was sent in but sometime between 7th of July when I provided all the documents and 12th of July when I was informed that my application had been submitted.
WP: 1st of August
RP: 10th of August
I know my timeline is unusually fast. My employer applied through a third party and they requested for an expedited process for the WP but they stated that the RP takes up to 12 weeks from the date of getting the WP.
However, I had been praying and fasting for a quick process and now I have my Annex 46.
My prayers are with everyone waiting for theirs š
@Nkechi1 This is amazing! Congratulations!
do you know when did they request for expedited processing?
@augcetoile thank you!! When they emailed me that they had applied, they said they also sent an email to the ministry of employment to ask if they could treat it with urgency.

@SDass2, hi. It seems there are only 2 possible options:
- through your employer
- if you're already in Belgium and e.g. in process of changing your employer, in this case you can track it somehow online (on official site) with logging through app "itsme" (not sure about it, but this option was mentioned by one of the forum's member (dee_keem)
Anyone from Flanders First time application getting got their single permit lately?

Hello,
Could please elaborate on the accelarate procƩdure ?
The agency applying for my WP on behalf of my employer informed us there is no accelarated procedure.
Could advise ?
Thank you
@gafarvictoir Yes thats true. I here share my timeline. In this period i myself and future employer applied many times to IBZ to accelarete the procedure. But answer alwaysĀ was negative.
Application : 10/03/2023
Work Permit : 02/05/2023
Residence Permit : 27/06/2023
You need to wait a little bit more.
Good luck
@gafarvictoir They just sent an email asking if it could be treated with urgency. They also told me that there was no guarantee that they would honor the request. So they did nothing special in particular. It was just the email.
@gafarvictoir continuing from my last response, there is really no process to expedite it.
@Nkechi1 Thank you very much for your response.
Have a great day
Has anyone here that received residence permit recently? How long it took to receive residence permit after work permit for Flanders region?
Thank you in advance for the information.

-@maharaji1984
More than what I couldn't understand
@caneraydogmusytuĀ , It's told that the process takes 8-12 weeks. Considering that August is still a vacation time it may take more time than less.
@caneraydogmusytu I have texted more than 2 months but apparently most important part has not published š
Hi, does anyone know if we get a notification email when each of the permits is issued? Or only our employer? In fact, does the employer get any notifications or s/he must be reminded to check the status online periodically?
Also, does anyone have experience with single permit as a researcher with hosting agreement? Acc. to this website: https://economy-employment.brussels/sin ā¦ -agreement the procedure "requires a maximum of 60 days between the time the application is declared complete by Brussels Economy and Employment and the issuance of the single permit" whereas for other situations, the timeline is up to 4 months. So I wonder if indeed I should expect a shorter procedure than usual.
WP (Brussels region) applied on 8 August
@dodevskaiva , hi.
I can share my experience as of now about notifications.
I received notification about the application (no-reply email)
After that I didn't receive any notification about WP, but my employer did and informed me.
Regarding RP, I'm still waiting so that I do not have a precise information.
Hi everyone, update on my permit below:
Type: Initial Single Permit
Region: Flanders (Antwerpen)

They are needing proof that I completed a bachelors program, or that my schooling lasted three years as I am applying as a highly educated person. I have an associates degree from the US, which is a two year program. I have been told before that this is enough but now I am worried since they are needing clarification. Has anyone here had experience with this? I do have over three years of schooling but not all from the program I am using to apply for the permit; I've transferred programs and schools. I know online it also says that schooling must have lasted at least three years or be equivalent to Flemish HBO5, which is what I assumed my associates degree would be.
@AlishaNelson33
Hey, this might help:
The highly skilled worker (see Article 17,1Ā° of the Government of Flanders Order) has a higher education or university diploma or degree, or the equivalent, that is:
1) at least at a Bachelorās or Masterās level of education (tertiary education level) that:
- lasted for at least three years
- or leads to education qualification level 5 (in Dutch).
2) awarded by a higher-education institution that is recognised by the state where the institution is situated. A diploma or certificate from a private educational institution is therefore not valid.
According to this decree, your programme does not qualify for high skilled worker.

Any idea about current timeline for single permit ? as per discussion with HR this process will take 10 weeks. not sure what is currently going on for this region .
@shrikant mete It looks like that's the general response they are giving employers, due to the backlog.
Maybe you can try to have your employer asking for more information on the 4th month Deadline after Sep 10th, hopefully they grant to you soon! wishing you good luck!Ā Ā

Hi there, thanks for the info! Since my degree is equivalent to an HBO5, I was hoping that would fulfill the requirement. I have completed more than two years of schooling as well, just not all at the same institution. I submitted transcripts showing the dates I attended school so Iām crossing my fingers that it will cover the three year requirement. Now to just wait!
