How can I move to Sweden before my residency?

HI guys,

I have 2 kids with my Swedish partner. We would like to move sooner, but my residency may still take 6-10 months. The visitor visa has been recommended but the government have said we should not apply for that as it may effect my residency application.

Currently I can go for 90 days in 180 days. But this is not enough with kids. And with covid restictions inconsistent in the UK, slightly concerning.

Have we missed something? Can anyone shed any light on a solution?

Cheers

Hello, I know personally some families from other countries than visa exempt countries like yours waited longer to get residence visa, during all that time they were separated from each other.

I wanted you to know that off topic info, because it might help you to appreciate your situation better after all it is "only" 6 months or so.

Ok that was the legal "advice" from finnbo the expert of expat.com

Now from me one European national to another. For few months ago you could come and go and settle down here as you wished. Still you are exempt from visa to visit. And you are a western European who married to a Swede and probably as white as him. So any officer who would catch you for been here for more than 90 days within 180 days period, would only turn a blind eye. But if you come here via any airport most of the times they would register when you landed and they would also know when you fly back.

But if you drive from Norway they hardly ever check anything not even passports and same goes for the Norwegian officers they also have very little interest, as long as your husband would be the driver and speak with them and answering their questions. They sometimes check the drivers license and sometimes not even that. They say kör försiktigt meaning drive safe. That was my experiences each time I crossed these borders both from E6 and E18. So it will be hard for anyone to know actually how long you have been here within a certain period.

Note that all this was before pandemi I don't know how the things are there now.
