I understand we need to get a marbete in November. Can someone tell me how to go about this. We do not have a cédula yet only passport. Can it be done online?  Thank you in advance

UncleBuck

The government hasn't opened up the Marbete system yet.  It is usually done by now, but this year, as with many things, is very different.  You can do it online, or go in person to a bank that offers the service in your area.  You need a legible copy of the ownership.  Not sure if this link will be allowed, but this is the info and website you need.

Link is good!    Thanks.

Yes we have not received any notifications yet on renewals.  I have done mine online quickly and easily!

OK - have to ask - what is a Marbete - sounds like it's auto ownership related?

planner

Exactly. It's the annual stupid tax grab.  Small for many of us but not small for everyone.

If you don't do it online, it requires going with all your documents to pay this tax and get a new sticker for your windshield.  Fee depends on the age of your car.

UncleBuck

For us in Ontario, Canada, it's the equivalent of the licence plate sticker.  Same thing many provinces and states have.

Planner, from what I understand, there used to be an inspection required?  Could you imagine how many vehicles would be off the road if that were still the case?  Some of the trucks I've seen along the North Coast are barely more than a frame and wheels.  No windows, lights, or safety device of any kind.  I'm not complaining, because then the one company vehicle we do have, would be off the road as well.  Ours at least has all the body panels, most of the windows, and one tail light!!

planner

UncleBuck remember the time honored system of "propinas". Inspections  mean nothing here!

I wish they would get the thousands of beat up vehicles off the damn roads.  Many traffic issues are caused by breakdowns here in the city!

It's why they have the phrase, "you ain't in Kansas anymore".

planner

Soooooo true!

Ack - thanks Planner - I noted the stickers on vehicles but as I didn't know thought they were in relation to insurance....now I know....gracias.....

planner

2VP not in relation to insurance - gov't tax only.

Thank you for your responses  If you do online then you don't need the sticker?  If you pay at the bank do they give you the sticker?

If you do it online they deliver the sticker to you so it's important to have an accurate address.

If you pay at the bank they give you the sticker when you pay.

Thank you
