Can Expat's husband work in saudi arabia

My wife is a medical doctor and we are planning to relocate to Saudi Arabia. Will i be able to find work, will i be allowed to work and what will be the process seeing that i am dependent on my wifes iqama.

I am an information technology graduate with more than 6 years experience in same field.

You can look for work but won't be able to work until a sponsor gives you an offer and then provides a work visa for you.  In majority of the cases, that means that you need to cancel the dependent visa, exit, go to your home country and start process for work visa from scratch - no conversion unless you have a strong wasta.

Hi Xtang,

Thanks for your reply.

What is a strong wasta?  Also with my qualification in IT will it be easy to find work?

Thanks for the reply.

A strong wasta means strong connection or influence in the Government who can intercede on your behalf. This  means that for the overwhelming majority of people, the conversion won't work and you have to leave - since most people don't have that.

Secondly, I am not an expert in IT field but depending on your skill set, the answer could be yes or no.  For normal IT skills, it is easy and preferable to get nationals whereas for more specialised skill sets, no.
