Hello everyone,
I am a Biochemical Engineer with 8 yrs laboratory experience and 2 yrs of Patent Administration experience. My partner and I are moving to Denmark for his PhD and I am looking for a job. Does relocating to Denmark help to find a job there or is it better to search from your home country before moving?
Thank you

Nellie Berg

I would start searching the net at once to get an idea of the market.

Search in English as that will give your the relevant hits, and don't forget to update your LinkedIn profile.

Maybe companies as Novo Nordisk, Lundbeck, Biogen and Chr. Hansen maybe relevant to you.

Thank you very much Nellie for your answer. Do you think that by being there I will have increased chances of finding a job and by which way might that help me? For example, I know there are newspapers that publish jobs, are there also public employment agencies that would support me in this task? Thank you

Nellie Berg

Being here doesn't necessarily increase your chances to land a job as nowadays, you'll find all jobs on the Internet, not in the newspapers. It's not common with employment agencies in general.

You can get an impression of the jobmarket from the positive list.

If your job isn't on the list, it will be uphill as you don't speak Danish, but who knows. Some times, we may all be lucky.

Some job sites in common:

If my first suggestions were relevant in relation to your qualifications, I would write an uninvited application to the companies. And do update your LinkedIn profile. Recruiters are looking for candidates here.
