Does the Cypriot Dept. of Transportation contact the US and/or state the US drivers license was issued from for validity etc, when exchanging for a Cypriot license?

am not 100% sure but I dont remember being informed of such an event when we replaced our UK licence for a cypriot one which we had to do for my wife last year - i also have to replace mine later this year as my photo licence photo expires this year.
