I've read most tourist books on where to visit while in Mauritius. Would love to hear those living here what are must see and do places and activities. Trying to get a bucket list together so I can do them during my 2 year stay. Thanks!

The scenic south route is wonderful. Le Morne, La Prairie, Case Noyale, Macondé, Vortex in Riambel, Gris-Gris, the colonial house of Saint-Aubin.
Avoid Rochester falls, lots of robbers there. I was a victim of them.
All the colonial houses:
Domaine des Aubineaux in Forest Side, Eureka in Moka, Domaine de Labourdonnais,
Pamplemousses, l'Aventure du Sucre.
Port-Louis: the big market, the Jardin de la Compagnie at certain hours, the Museum and its stuffed dodo,

TROU AUX CERFS at Curepipe/floreal you can walk around the volcano crater and have very good views of a lot of the ridges of mountains . there are two car parks at the top so not a lot of walking.

As a whimsical thing to see , there is the "DODO ROUNDABOUT" in Flac en Flac, it is of interest to GEOCACHERS as there is something stored there. IT is a roundabout with model dodo birds in the middle which has a nice garden.
