Whatever you do make sure to check the cars history, many many vehicles here are imported from the USA and have had issues there!  Check Car Fax or one of those services before buying anything from anyone!

I agree with planner. Don't buy an imported vehicle without checking CarFax first. Most recently imported vehicles are about 5 years old.

Good point -  I'm in Juan Dolio - about 25 minutes East of the Santo Domingo Airport

I am looking at a few used vehicles (2012 give or take) in the $18,000 range from private sellers ..  few questions ..

What tax rate is used above the selling price?
What is the licensing Fee?
I assume insurance will be in the $600-$800/yr range .. am I close ?

Are there any other 'add on costs"
