Hello everyone,

Moving abroad requires adequate insurance coverage.

What type of insurance expatriates need the most in Belize: health, house or liability insurance? All of them? Do they come as a package?

Are there other insurance options to consider like critical illness, damage or property insurance?

Is it better to purchase insurance from an expat insurance specialist or from a local insurance provider?

And what about insurance costs?

In Belize Auto insurance Mandated but all else is subjective. Hurricane insurance useful but expensive particularly in areas by the coast (where it would be most useful)
There are several Insurance companies in Belize. Where you can get any type of insurance cover for all of the items listed.
Health insurance is probably more expensive than you would need. Local doctors are inexpensive. Hospitals also inexpensive but basic and not really geared up to standards expected by expats. Medical evacuation insurance probably a lot more useful in an expat community, enabling a return to where they would be more likely to get the treatment, and be more confident about same, for life threatening emergency.
