When did this happen? We are applying from Australia & were told by the Embassy that this is still Kosher!

Updated info was posted yesterday.

Damm! Did they say how much extra it will be?
We are moving to Thailand on a Retirement Visa next April!

Each person must have 800,000 Baht in Thai Bank, before the wife rode on the husbands visa.  I think it must be seasoned for 3 months previous and 2 months seasoning for extensions.

Immigration said that the rule had been misinterpreted for years and that they were just clarifying things and both parties needed the funds.

Again a suggested by another poster www.thaivisa.com  answers to your questions.

Many thanks - that's a big whack extra!

This information has now been clarified by PHUKET IMMIGRATION. There is no wholesale change.

You can read the article from Thai Immigration here.

Thanks so much for the information! A little bit more tricky, but not too devastating!
We still look forward to retiring in Thailand in April.
We'll be in Pattaya in January - we owe you a drink!
