Cancun to Chetumal

Been to San Pedro several times, once for three months on a sailboat, and decided to pursue the possibility of relocating. My question concerns getting from Cancun to Chetumal to San Pedro. I've seen conflicting posts about the buses to Chetumal. Will I have to spend a night in either Cancun or Chetumal in order to catch the water taxi to San Pedro? Hate to waste two days, (one each way) in a hotel, when I could be on the beach eating Ceviche.

Sometimes we spend the night, sometimes we ride the bus and nap on the way. There are many ways to get between the two places. Would you prefer cheap or quick?

Check into Belize Transfers. They use to pick up at the airport and will take you just about anywhere. My husband and I have used them a couple of times in the past and they are among the best for customer service in Belize. LOVE them for a straight ride from point A to point B.

Let me add... they don't take you to the island but they can probably tell you the fastest and cheapest way.
