I'm moving to Malta next week and was wandering if there's a meeting up for Superbowl in Malta (Feb. 5th). Even though I'm not American, I just love American football...especially NY Giants...who're in Superbowl!!!
Does anyone know if there's a particular bar with a big screen to watch it?

ricky

That shouldn't be a problem except maybe because of the time difference. Many pubs show all sorts of sports on big screens. I'll keep my eyes open to see if the game is being advertised somewhere. The pubs usually advertise games being shown a few days before on charts in front of the place!

Thanx, Ricky. I hope you'll succeed. I know it might be difficult because of the time difference. Are the bars even allowed to be open that late at night?

ricky

Kick-off time is 6.30 pm Eastern time. You might be lucky and find a sportsbar that stays open to show the game.

If you have the sports TV channels at home you could watch the game at home! I'll check out the TV programm next week to see if the game is being shown on one of sports channels. If not , the sportsbars won't be showing the game either!

Cheers

Hi,

the Superbowl is being aired on ESPN America tomorrow (Sunday) at 0.00 until 4 am.

This channel is part of the Melita XXL package. There may be other channels showing the game too .

Enjoy -)))

So, i moved to Malta last week and checked in here for replies according to the superbowl game. I went to the Portside Lounge as sunshinelover suggested. When i arrived just before midnight i was the only customer there and the bartender and the maneger said that they couldn't keep the bar open for just one customer. Sad to hear that i went outside for a smoke, came back in and was told that they'd decided to keep the bar open JUST FOR ME:D How amazing is that? Love those guys!
Just after the coin toss 5 americans enter the bar in panic, screaming "are you open. Pleeeaase?". So the night the eight of us watched the game, played drinking games and had the best of time.
Took a cab back to Qawra at 5am, but was very happy.
So I owe you a lot in this forum, but definitely also the bartender and manager of Portside Lounge:D Thank you so much, guys!
Oh, and Giants won:D
