Travelling out while waiting for permanent residency

goodluckgreavu

Hello, I have a one year residency, which was given because I was pregnant at the time and married to a Romanian but couldn’t get my health insurance in time before my delivery. So was given a one year so I can give birth and sort the health insurance out before I reapply again.

Now my question is can I travel outside the country for 2 month without it affecting my application. Will it be an issue for them not accepting my application for a permanent residence?

@goodluckgreavu Have you asked at Imigrare? Whatever answer they give, ask for a printed copy.

To obtain residency of long-duration (there is no permanent residency anymore), you need to be able to speak Romanian at a satisfactory level...which means you should be able to converse with IGI officers and ask them any questions you have.

That said, 2 months should not be a problem unless you've been outside Romania for a significant amount of time on other trips during the last 5 years of temporary residency (6 months consecutive or 10 months total).  If you have any appointments scheduled with IGI, you need to be here for those appointments obviously.  Again, that should be something that could be arranged by speaking with them.
