Hi Guys, I am due to arrive in Brussels in January, and will be bringing my fiance, new born son and my 3 year old step daughter.
we had to cancel moving to Dubai as Laceys father would not give lacey a letter of consent and let her move with us,( The UAE is very strict on this matter). as he did not want her so far away ( I can totally appreciate ) however my dream job has been offered and we don't want to put our life on hold, we want the best for our family.

Has anyone else been in this position?
How do I do it?

Hope to hear from you.

I have no idea, you will have to consult the Belgian embassy in London to ask what you need as proof that your step-daughter is allowed to leave the UK and reside with just mum in Belgium. I would expect you would need the consent of a UK family court order to do this. You do not want to fall foul of the Hague Convention of which Belgium and the UK are signatories.

From a practical point of view simply for travelling with mum and / or you back and forth from the UK / Belgium, you will need to carry with you a copy of any consent for where your step-daughter is legally residing. If ever mum is not travelling and you or another family member taking your step-daughter between parents, you will need to carry a letter from the resident parent explaining the details of the journey + copy of passport of parents.
