Remote Income

Bhill5687

Hello, my name is Brandon and I am 32 years old. I just joined these forums and I wanted to ask everyone on here how they are making their income either remote or otherwise in order to live abroad as an expat. I have had my eyes set on Colombia as I already know fluent Spanish. My problem is making enough income preferably remote income to make the move. I have a Youtube channel currently where I make some income but not much. I'm trying to figure out what I can do to make more consistently. Any help would be appreciated!!

Remote workers can live in Colombia for up to two years using the Type V Digital Nomad Visa, requiring proof of foreign income at least three times the Colombian minimum wage (approx. COP 4,270,500 or ~$1,100 USD/month as of 2026). Applicants must provide bank statements, contracts, and health insurance. Tax residency applies after 183 days.

Well, it's Colombia so you can make extra money by legally selling 🍑

LOL 😉 Just kidding, of course (unless you're into that... in which case, who am I to judge? Make yo' money, bro!) 🤑

Anyway in all seriousness, it sounds like you're bilingual, so you could make a little extra money...

  1. As a tour guide
  2. As a Local Helper (a helping hand for visitors or expats who need local random resources, preferably bilingual)
  3. Translator and/or Interpreter
  4. Event photographer/videographer, if you have the gear. Funny enough, I do, but my Spanish isn't good enough to give me the courage to approach locals and offer this service.

Those are just some ideas. I am sure other people might have other ideas for you. Good luck!

@SimCityAT

Your number is really low.

Salario minimo in 2026 is 1,750 ,905 COP.

Times 3 is 5,252,715 COP.

Todays exchange rate is 3668 COP to $USD

So with todays exchange rate you need $1432 guaranteed income to qualify for a Nomad Visa.
