Bank ATM with best exchange rate for the us dollar?

Always choose local currency the Colombian peso COP.  Always choose no conversion.

Davivienda is used by many Colombians I know.  But really don't sweat the small stuff - be glad the exchange rate isn't below 1 USD = 2000 COP as it was not so long ago, relatively speaking.

Some cards will reimburse ATM fees, like Schwab and USAA.

And in case you didn't already know, it's better to use an ATM in an enclosed mall where there is security.   Beforehand, look around the vicinity for "loungers" just hanging out trying to look like they're not watching.  Don't dar papaya  !

remember to always decline the conversion (ripoff).  Servibanca and Scotiabank have good cajero automáticos.  If you have a schwab checking account they refund all ATM fees.  I think there is another brokerage checking account that also refunds … perhaps the rest of the group will recall? 

If you are a US citizen, get a Charles Schwab account  they reimburse you the ATM fixed   fees, after a few days.

Not including  the ATM fixed fees, the Charles Schwab card should give you pretty close to bang on the Visa/ Mastercard official day rate.

For Canadians ( my direct experience), the Wealth Simple prepaid card and WS credit cards reimburse the fixed fees within 2 days.

After the fees are reimbursed, the  actual real exchange rate in the case of the WS card  is less than 0.7 % of the daily official Visa/ Mastercard rate  I believe the difference is the charge of the intermediary bank in México.

In the case of Davavienda  they charge 26 mil per transaction  which WS reimburses within 2 days, and I am allowed 2 million withdrawal per day. I have not checked other banks lately. The only reason I would is because WS may get tired of paying these exhorbitant ATM fees  and cut me off, so if I found a bank with lower fees and/ or higher daily withdrawal limit  might reduce this possibility.

This doesnt seem.to be an issue with US Charles Schwab cards according to other people online.

Also dont make the terrible rooky mistake of accepting the ATM banks exchange rate. Its a bank scam to rip off the naive an extra 8% or 10%, and actually should be illegal
