Bank ATM with best exchange rate for the us dollar?

I went to Banco AV Villa and felt extremely ripped off. Any advice?

Always choose local currency the Colombian peso COP.  Always choose no conversion.

Davivienda is used by many Colombians I know.  But really don't sweat the small stuff - be glad the exchange rate isn't below 1 USD = 2000 COP as it was not so long ago, relatively speaking.


Some cards will reimburse ATM fees, like Schwab and USAA.


And in case you didn't already know, it's better to use an ATM in an enclosed mall where there is security.   Beforehand, look around the vicinity for "loungers" just hanging out trying to look like they're not watching.  Don't dar papaya  !

remember to always decline the conversion (ripoff).  Servibanca and Scotiabank have good cajero automáticos.  If you have a schwab checking account they refund all ATM fees.  I think there is another brokerage checking account that also refunds … perhaps the rest of the group will recall?
