Check Mig still needed?

I took a 4 month leave of Colombia earlier this year and did the Check Mig.


A friend, who left Colombia for about 5 weeks during that time, said he and his wife didn't do Check Mig (He tried but couldn't get it to work, so gave up), and immigration didn't say anything.


I know no harm in filling out the forms, but is it still required?
