Can't get into it - @SimCityAT

I know the feeling.  It's a bit slow at first but it gets better by episode 3.

It reminds me of a Guy Ritchie movie.  Some of the characters are straight out of his playbook/style.

I've been waiting for this one.  Thanks for the tip.  But I do wonder if its time has passed, given the Trump victory etc.

We do have a "Films in Hungarian" section.   Some of them are OK but nothing to write home about.   The dubbed soundtrack is appalling usually.  Very stilted and amateurish and unsync'd and even wrong.  I'm usually watching foreign language films using the subtitles.

I don't know if it's on Netflix, there are some absolute classic HU movies - the one I liked the best was called Kontroll.   It's set in the Hungarian metro system.  Worth checking out.  The director Nimród Antal went on to bigger things in Hollywood.

I refuse to pay for VPN providers right now.  Some web sites are wise to the addresses and block them.  Mainly I was using VPNs to watch the BBC and ITV but since I lost my own personal VPN in the UK (it was set up on my equipment at my late Dad's place), I've realised, it probably wasn't worth it as the TV shows are quite rubbish and I don't miss them.

SimCityAT

I use my VPN, for Netflix, to watch the USA and UK. Also for Tubitv.com.

I have IPTV, so rarely watch iPlayer or ITVX.

It's on all the time for security as well.

The geo-location in general is a real nuisance for me.  I want to get to some UK sites as I have things I do there but some block or get confused.  I can get around it but it's fiddly for me to do.

I could make a permanent link to the UK using a VPN provider but then the others here would end up being restricted here. We have much better bandwidth here now.  It was always a problem if the family wanted to do say, 2 x video conferencing and 1 x gaming at the same time.   It just couldn't handle it. We only had a cable TV supplier for Internet.   We dumped that ISP (called PR Telekom). We've now switched to HU Telekom's fibre "1Gbps".  I put that in quotes because during weekends and holidays, it gets throttled back.  The biggest problem currently is trying to overcome the pathetic and restrictive Telekom equipment.

iPlayer as a download is now stopped.  It's still usable to stream.  ITVx doesn't work on downloads as far as I remember.  I was using them previously mostly for the football to get the commentary in English.   We can see the game here usually but I wanted to see Lineker and guests etc commenting on the game at half- and full-time.

It's a niche interest for those of a certain age, but early Dr Who episodes are being colourised.  The latest one is airing on the BBC 4 and Iplayer if you can get it.  It'll turn up on YouTube.  This time, it's Patrick Troughton, the 2nd doctor getting the technicolour treatment.   He evolves to Jon Pertwee at the end and we find out his regeneration is a result of a Time Lords' curse (I believe).

I know but I'm VPN-less.  Not got around to that over the holidays. I have to fix my incoming VPN to my house first  as I need it for security.  HU Telekom equipment is so bad, I have to get over their stupid limitations.  It's a horror show of dumbed down dumbass technology.

And there's been a load of domestic BS to deal with.   We're taking opportunity to sort through and try and get rid of our rubbish/trash.  It's a serious problem disposing of stuff here.   It's "Die Toten Hosen" during the two weeks of Xmas.  Absolutely no real services apart from shops.

Wallace and Gromit will appear on Netflix, which we do have.  I can wait for it.  And of course, for all those naughty people who are on Santa's naughty download list, it's available that way too.

I haven't found the colourised Dr Who War Games "movie" yet.  But I haven't been looking that hard.

Update: Watched this one on Netflix and it was indeed good.  Jason Bateman acts against type.  He was excellent in Ozark and he does a good job in this movie as well.

fluffy2560

This one is a bit unusual - a musical narco-crime drama cum comedy - but it could be up for Oscars having won numerous awards previously with much praise for the cast. It was mentioned in reports of the Golden Globes. Available on Netflix.  In Spanish with subtitles.

I have not been to the cinema for years but thinking of going just to see, The Brutalist.

Love Adrian Brody,s acting.

One of the 1956 ers who came to the USA.

In Colorado in 1975 a very wealthy 56 er rented a movie house for a night and invited hundreds of people to see a private made film about the 1956 revolution. Mostly made from the few reporters who covered it and many of them died while filming.

We attended the film.

Many or these well to do 1956ers in the US were very generous with other Hungarians.

Big difference from now days.

He is indeed an easy watch.

Usually the plot is Liam as an ex-CIA operative/cop/FBI agent/whatever against some insurmountable odds where he resurrects his skills to fight back against some plot of rogue operators/terrorists/blackmailers/robbers as a clock ticks down.

I've got a few of his to see that I've stacked up on Netflix.

I never have seen the exact film on U tube about 1956 as we saw in Denver. IDK, some sort of private collection of clips and interviews. It was interesting and had English subtitles/ Almost all that were there spoke Hungarian though.

The guy was nice, he personally greeted everyone as they came into the building. I guess that is called, A class act?

I have not gone to the cinema in years so a mid day matinee when the kids are in school might be nice.

Looked at cinema city but so far seems it is not playing here just yet.

Does indeed sound like the guy was a class act.

I'll ask my No.1 HU Fluffyette about that HU 1956 documentary.  She's studying stuff like this at Uni.  It's exam time so she's working through a lot of material.  A lot of the new generation don't know anything about communism. It seems 1000 years ago to them.  So I'm not holding out much hope  identifying the movie.   There are many short clips of 1956 on YouTube and lots of photos and a few short films/newsreels from WW2.

The ideal time to go to the movies is indeed the afternoon.   The only cinema (usually) showing movies in English is Allee.  When we've been there, sometimes we're there with 5 or 6 others and we've felt we've had the place to ourselves.  There is an issue that when the movie is over, it's sometimes the rush hour and these days, too dark.

I'm a fan of 1950s/60s/early 70s movies. I usually line up an old movie for the afternoon between say 2pm and 5pm.  I'm only really working mornings now.  And at the moment, I'm on online training which I am simply not doing.  When one works remotely, there's a tendency to forget one exists by the other team members unless I'm the leader.  My bro also does this kind of home working and he has to nudge others to make sure they remember he's involved.  Even my British eldest works main from home (the other one is now in Ontario).   Working at home,  It's the way forward if you're younger.  I reckon my productivity has plummeted compared to working in an office but I want to retire.  I keep doing stuff like emptying the bins, going to Obi, buying stuff on Amazon or Ebay etc.  Weather is good now so outside work has become more attractive.  Yesterday I replaced the shock absorber bushings on my hobby car plus new windscreen wipers.  I should have been doing something else!

I find documentaries to be interesting.I am not a fan of sci fi films.

Mid day  matinee is the best. Once or twice in Vegas I had free film tickets and would watch a film while my husband played his video poker. He could play for hours on end so I never went with him unless we were going to brunch or I was going to see a film at the same casino.

I often was the only person in the movie.Pick of seats! He always had free things from his hours of playing, free buffets, free movies and sometimes even free event tickets.

When he drove a taxi they always were given free show tickets. They could even enter those dance clubs for free if they wanted to! Those businesses catered to drivers because they wanted them to recommend things to tourists. Glad he never was a fan of those dance :strip clubs or he would of had to switch jobs!

They paid taxi drivers to bring groups to those clubs too. I think it was groups of at least 4, then the drivers got a button to take in worth up to an extra $40 per person who paid to get in! Nice way to pick up an extra $160. without much effort. Not sure they still do that promotion or not.

I planned on running an errand today but slept for 10 hours!

Hate doing that, can sleep when I am gone to this world!

Did my yoga but now stalling with my second half of my workout, lazy today. that is what over sleep does to a person.

Had nice dreams however. Dreamed   that my son was a toddler again, if only...

My husbands new year promise is to start working out ;same promise he had for the last 5 years!

I usually force him on what he calls his death march. Make him have a city walk every other day or so.

Marilyn Tassy

I just remembered once with his taxi job we got 2 free tickets with a meet and greet with Sly Stone. His last Rocky film played just for drivers at a cinema.

We did not meet him, not really interested in standing in a long line to shake anyone,s hand and snap a photo.

My husband gave me 2 tickets to a show on the Strip when my eldest sister visited us from Minn;

Can not think of the name ATM but it embarrassed me.

Felt weird sitting with my sister and seeing topless dancers in the so called exotic show; There was singing and dancing but when the tops came off, I was ready leave. My sister seemed to enjoy it though...

I am weird, we no longer look much like each other and most tables were mixed couples, not 2 middle aged women watching topless dancers prance around. I just ordered a second cocktail and went with it.

I'm not sure I'd want to be in any meet and greet with Sly Stone.  His politics are the opposite to mine so I wouldn't give him the time of day.  I've never actually seen any of the Rocky movies.  Or Harry Potter.

I cannot say I've been in any shows where people are topless. Personally I'd be happier watching a 1950s Technicolor Western.  Things have changed as I'm approach my mid-60s. I'm way past sitting in dark clubs quaffing drinks these days.  I'd probably fall asleep immediately if the lights were down.  I used to take the kids (when they were younger) to the movies so I could get in a sleep while they were being entertained.  They got used to it and stopped nudging me.  At first I was pushed by them because I snoozed through the entire Lion King movie.  One of many I managed to sleep through.

I didn't get my movie in today as we ended up in Obi and Ikea.  I got up too late as well.

I've run out of TV shows - it's a bit of a desert out there and we have to wait a week or so for shows to come back for second seasons or to start up.

I saw this advertised and Angelina Jolie's up for prizes for her performance.   Problem is that it's about opera which is a turn off. Never been a fan and very few operas are worth listening to.   I could be wrong and it's a wonderful film.  I've been to operas here in Hungary (it was cheap for matinees) and left early once the famous songs were done.   I don't mind some of the singers if  they are doing musical theatre - Sarah Brightman in Phantom of the Opera.

It's a bit like those US football movies - like  Any Given Sunday for example - very few of those are of interest.  Very niche.  There have been some sports betting movies which were pretty good - Moneyball is one. It's about gaming the system more than the actual game.  Brad Pitt is in that one (links to Angelina Jolie there!)
