Their price per kilo was quite high. My local Bulgaria grocery store in Ireland charges €1.50 per kilo to ship stuff to bulgaria.

Tell me what you need and I will charge you double for it .

I buy the "important stuff" (real Indian chutney, and Lea & Perrins Worcester sauce 😎) in bulk and have enough to last me a year or so already, plus another consignment of both on the last trip from England on Friday..

I buy quite a few groceries from Amazon Germany, with free delivery to BG.

That's an excellent idea! LOL, both the side business angle and the idea of ordering via a Bulgarian shop in Ireland.

I suspect that won't go on for too much longer, once the regulations are fully in effect.  I'm sure it's an "unofficial" arrangement with no guarantees or insurance, let alone tax declarations. There have been many such services over the years, including some Brit chancers shipping meat etc in freezer bags and simply refreezing it on arrival.

I even remember one pre-Xmas flight I took that was delayed for nearly 36 hours due to snow and sub-zero conditions; it was a stressful time since all the local hotels in Luton were fully-booked - and I had a frozen turkey in my suitcase! 😂

Don't you have Asian shops in Bulgaria?

Yes, but they only have a small range of goods - and large prices... 😥

I like Geeta's Premium Mango Chutney, which no-one sells here, and especially not at £6.99 for a 1.5kg jar, which is what it costs on Amazon..

I make so much other stuff (bread, booze, pasta, home smoking et al) that I just don't have time to add to the list, not to mention that I don't think I can make it for the same price or get the right ingredients here in BG.

One effect of the shipping services ending is that I'm having to find new sources of brewing supplies, which is taking up even more of my time. What's on offer in BG is pricey and not comprehensive..

There's a new decent one in Plovdiv, Ruyel Asian, prices aren't too bad.

From what I've seen it's Gabielli who have stopped UK shipments, haven't had anything from GGBG saying the same.

I had an email from GGBG about a week ago..last run from UK is this weekend; last date for delivery to their UK office is tomorrow (25th)

I think that's Gabieli rather than GGBG, the email I received from them says their last run from the UK is this weekend, with the 25th being the last date for delivery to their UK office.

Last update from GGBG was which courier to use for Vinted deliveries.

I haven't used Gabielli for so long that I'm surprised they still have my email address and I didn't notice it wasn't GGBG. Time to get some stuff ordered up PDQ, just in case...
