Hello, anyone have an idea as to cost of getting a electric emersion heater plumbed in, one that's rated less than 3kw so in theory should not need to be hard wired in, just plug in type.

Hate doing plumbing myself, spent hours trying to fix leaks from new fittings.

I find the fittings over here not the best so rather get an experienced person to do job.

Their coming on Wednesday to give price and what fittings needed.

Also any recommendations on make and model of good heater, especially suited for hard water.

Are you talking about a standard "boiler", usually wall-mounted? They're almost invariably rated at 3kw, so can run from a standard 16-amp Shuko socket. It doesn't hurt to have it controlled by a separate wall switch; personally, I prefer to run them on a separate circuit to prevent overloading - you never know what else might end up on a shared circuit. The installation is a doddle, especially if the water connection already exists.

I find Eldom boilers offer the best bang for your buck - spend a little extra and get a stainless steel one, they'll repay the cost many times over..

DON'T buy Ariston Velis - they look good but are total cr*p!
