Suggestions for a short break?

Has anyone got a suggestion for an area for a short break on the coast? Somewhere that is quiet and polar opposite to Sunny Beach?  Would like to do a short break with the dog before summer arrives.

Thanks.

Kavarna, further up from Balchik, has a beautiful beach. The town is small, but has decent enough infrastructure for a short break. You can also visit Cape Kaliakra, about 20 mins drive from Kavarna.  If you like mussels, you can also visit the Dalboka Mussel Farm, but, warning, the road down to it, is incredibly steep, both for cars and people to walk! But well worth the effort, if you like mussels!   There's also Durankulak, close to the Romanian border, which has a lake and archaeological park.

I presume the polar opposite to sunny beach would be Sinemorets or some of the beaches around there.

Closest to you if you want to be able to drive there and also far less touristy or 18-30 than Sunny Beach would be the north coast beaches -- Balchik, Kavarna, that area. I haven't been to Kavarna, but just be aware that parking in central Balchik can be challenging in the summer!

Byala and Obzor are also great and quieter that Sunny Beach and others.

Most Bulgarians who enjoy beach holidays go to Greece - maybe they know something? 😎

@JimJ

You must be talking about your elite friends from Sofia.

I'm not sure which part made me smile more - the idea that I have any friends, or that if I have then they'd be "elite"...😂

I guess that you haven't been to Halkidiki/Kavala/Thassos etc - in the summer they're packed with decidedly non-elite holidaymakers from many Slavic countries, especially Bulgaria. And the number of ordinary middle-class Bulgarians who own property in Greece is quite remarkable!

I have to say that you'd never catch me living in Greece though.... 😎

@JimJ

Yes the Southern Neighborhood of Sofia is very popular for second home owners and Kavala-grad.

@Zooldrool

Amusingly enough, the southern suburbs of Sofia are very popular with Greek expats.. 😎

  1. Irakli Beach: A secluded, wild beach that is perfect for nature lovers looking to escape civilization and the crowds.

  1. Sinemorets: Located further south, this area is known for its natural beauty and is a popular choice for peace and quiet.

  1. Kavazite Beach: A clean, nice beach south of Sozopol, offering a calmer atmosphere.

  1. Pomorie: A smaller town that offers a more relaxed pace, featuring a salt museum and therapeutic mud treatments.

  1. Sveti Vlas: A more upscale, quieter town located in the opposite direction from the main Sunny Beach chaos, good for a more relaxed stay.

😂 Another time as we would like somewhere that isn’t too far driving. Greece is a favourite destination. We have a crazy dog which always complicates things here as I try to find places with the least amount of dogs.

@SimCityAT

Thanks, that’s nicely detailed.
