New digital nomad visa

janemulberry

So, the information I've found online is sketchy, but apparently Bulgaria started accepting applications on December 20 for a new digital nomad visa category, quite different to the previous freelancer visa (no language proficiency requirement!).

Does anyone here have some reliable information about this?

From what I've read, I am likely to qualify for one of the categories, and it would get us to Bulgaria a year sooner than waiting for the pensioner visa. I'm assuming if I get it, I can stay a year on the digital nomad D visa then at the end of the year apply for the pensioner D visa.

Main points: 31k euros annual income requirement, and 3 categories. However, it seems it has a time limit (1 year initial + possible 1 year renewal), so one would need a transition plan if wanting to stay indefinitely as a non-Nomad. :-)

One year would be enough to get us through to me getting my OAP, so I could then apply for the pensioner D visa.

There doesn't seem to be a great deal of information about what documentation is required, but I think I could qualify under the third category. I read that they started accepting applications for this visa on December 20,  but it seems a lot of the "official" sites and documentation still aren't mentioning it.
