Just arrived!

You don't want your employer to wait three months.  If they do, you won't be able to work legally while waiting for the permit to process.  Once you have signed your contract on Monday, the time to apply will be the sooner the better.  The employer files the application but, depending on the type of job, you should start assembling the required documents that you will need to provide for them to submit.  Translation and government certification will be needed for your documentation.

Are you on a Business Visa, sponsored by your employer?
By 'sponsored' I mean a 'Letter of Invitation' from your current employer.  Did you have that at the time of applying for your current visa?

If so, you can work for the 1st three months without a WP.
If you are on a tourist visa, you strictly can't.

As THIGV pointed out, it takes almost a month (could be more) to process a WP.  So if your employer wants you to continue (without interruption) after your first three months, they MUST start applying for your WP as soon as possible.... at least within the next one month.

Since you're going to sign a labour contract on Monday, right at that time make it very clear to your employer that if you don't get your WP within the next three months (max), you won't be available to work for them on Business Visa (extensions) after three months.

Probably that's what they intend to do .... to keep you on visa extensions and thus avoiding the WP hassle. It's not a fair practice and is in fact illegal.

Please ask your employer to start the WP process as soon as possible.
