Guest6832

Is anyone aware if it is possible to get a PET scan done in Vietnam? This is a highly specialized nuclear medical scan.

Yes, there's a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scanner at Việt Đức Hospital in Hà Nội.

Here's the info:

Bệnh viện Việt Đức (Việt Đức Hospital)
Địa chỉ (address) : 40 Phủ Doãn, Hàng Bông, Hoàn Kiếm, Hà Nội
Điện thoại (phone) :04 3825 3531

I've never been to that hospital but I googled it to come up with the search.

Hanoi hospital becomes first in nation to use PET-CT scan
Posted on OCTOBER 28, 2012 Written by THANHNIENNEWS

Hanoi's Viet Duc Hospital became the first hospital in Vietnam to use a PET-CT scan Thursday.

The equipment, which is a combination of positron emission tomography (PET) and computed tomography (CT) imaging technology, can help identify tumors and detect cancers and cardiovascular problems.

The fee for using the PET-CT scanning system is VND30 million (US$1,760), half of that in other Southeast Asian countries.

That article was in 2012 so there might be one in HCMC.

I googled and came up with....might look like there's one at Chợ Rẫy Hospital.

Bệnh viện Chợ Rẫy  (Chợ Rẫy Hospital)
Địa chỉ (address): 201B Nguyễn Chí Thanh, phường 12, Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh, Hồ Chí Minh

based on this article

So now you have two leads.  Good luck.

If I need to , I can take my dog to the Supermarket, and they will scan him for free. ( as long as I buy something from them ).

Thank you for your informative information. I am in the south so will look into the HCMC option. It is critical I get a scan post cancer surgery. Otherwise it will involve a trip to another country which is an expense I can do without!!

Bluenz, whilst I can appreciate your sense of humour this is rather serious for me as I need the scan post cancer surgery :(

I sympathize with you, I've had family members and friends go through what you are about to go through, and a close call myself, ( but I hope your outcome is more successful ), but as they say , laughter is the best medicine '. Good luck with the scan

Thanks Bluenz, I'm optimistic for a positive outcome. I've had 2 previous battles with cancer so consider myself a survivor who wants to get on and enjoy everything that life has to offer :)

In that case, gimme a PM if you need someone to go to Bệnh viện Chợ Rẫy with you.
