You'll find that the word "hospital" is used rather loosely here in VN. In the west we would refer to them as "clinics", or "beauty spas" (i.e. operating out of rented premises, no inpatient care, no emergency services, etc). This appears to be the case with Worldwide Hospital.

Much the same with the word "university". In Thai Nguyen City where I lived for 2.5 years, there were 14 "universities". That, in a city of only ~500K people. Many of the "universities" were single buildings, and in two examples I'm familiar with the "universities" were each on single floors of office buildings.

I suggest you reach out to actual hospitals here and make enquiries.

Failing that, Bangkok, Thailand has an excellent reputation in the area of cosmetic surgery.

Wow your post was scary. Not that I’m not aware of the dangers of getting medical care in places that are not well regulated but your bullet point examples we’re not a confidence builder.

So as it turns out, I miss read the doctors qualifications the term used was aesthetics, and I was I was glancing through it. I thought it was anesthetics, as if all the experience was being an anesthesiologist. 

With trepidation, I went through with it and declined the suggestion that I include another procedure for a better end look. My interest was only addressing the bags under my eyes, and it would seem the more things being done create more opportunity for failure.

so far everything seems to be going OK.

I should add that a number of local people kept trying to advise me to use a local doctor at a much lower price and who reportedly had good results with their friends getting similar procedure procedures done.

I know how to cut corners, but not when it comes to somebody taking a knife to my face.

I should mention for anybody else seeking out this type of care, there are a number of websites which basically recommend the best doctors in a given area and I kind of suspect that there’s not really an accurate rating system, but rather it’s a business model for advertising or in some cases, the actual hospital itself set up another website with a neutral sounding advisory name to direct patients in their direction.

Can't blame them for trying to up-sell the procedure, I guess. Good you stuck to your original plan.

Your suspicion sounds about right.

So, was it the Worldwide Hospital you opted for? What was your impression of the facility? How long did the procedure take, and were you under a local or a general anaesthetic? Cost?

Please keep the forum updated on your post-op care and recovery, and your satisfaction with the results after the swelling/bruising goes down.

Yes it was WorldWide Hospital.

cost seemed to be at the upper range of what I saw online 1300. US.

.m not sure how long but they seem to have same day service, …not sure if that is good or bad.

I was put to sleep with the injection.

They have responded very quickly anytime I have asked follow up questions.

I am due to return a week after.

I was nervous enough when I sat down with the doctor for the consultation. She handed me her phone and shows me some before and after photos I guess. The very first one she shows me was an older guy  Whose “after pictures” actually look pretty bad. Typically they pick the best ones for their advertising but in this case, the outcome at the  one month stage shown was not encouraging. And then she showed some others that were typical which you might see online that she had done.

I guess I should mention that last year I had some dental work done there. That’s what made me familiar with them because it seems to be a primarily a dental place, which was very satisfactory.

Again when you go to a place that’s geared towards foreign traffic, you’re not gonna get the best price, but there is some things were trying to get the best price on something like this is foolish.

Of course, if I knew of a smaller local guy who is highly skilled that could come with some type of great recommendation, I would go there because the skill is the most important thing. But as a foreigner, you have no way to evaluate.
