Denied Reason: please provide a detailed address in Vietnam
Hello Aidan,
Thank you for your response. Yes, I am using a Canadian passport. I have applied for an e-visa from June to the end of August, which was approved for 3 months. Now, I am applying for my second visa. I plan to travel to Vietnam this month and may stay longer, so having the next visa in place beforehand will allow me to plan more smoothly without any concerns.
There is no government involvement—I've only suspended my business registration (though operations are still ongoing). Due to this suspension, I cannot use the company guarantee for my visa until I reopen the registration, which I plan to do by the end of this year.
The amusing part is that I received my next visa approval this morning! So everything is good on my end.
Thank you for your advice.
Best regards,

Very good. Thank you for that.
I assume you've not yet arrived here to start your June-August visit. If so, an issue you might (hopefully won't) experience would be immigration cancelling the validity of the first visa, which had not been activated by your entering VN through a border checkpoint, after approval of your second application. A faq on an older immigration eVisa application web portal (no longer viewable) stated that that would be the case. As mentioned in previous posts, eVisa stacking (i.e. holding chronologically consecutive eVisas) has not been possible/permitted for about 3 years now.
Please take the time to keep us updated on how this progresses for you.
Hello Aidan,
Just a quick update—I arrived in Vietnam a couple of days ago on a three-month tourist visa, and everything went smoothly without any issues. I have approved visa for another 3 months and hopefully I'll be getting another three-month visa in September when I return. Looking forward to the next visit!
Hello @Aidan in HCMC, I am applying for an e-Visa and have received the notice “Amendment required – Please provide a correct address and contact phone number in Vietnam” for the fourth time.
As a foreign visitor, I can only rely on hotel booking details. My initial address (Taibo-house, 240/1A Le Thanh Ton, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City) was not accepted, so I rebooked another hotel and updated my application with the following confirmed information:
Hotel Name: 99 Bui Vien Hotel (Boutique)
Address: 99 Bui Vien Street, Pham Ngu Lao Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, 700000
Phone: +02838369723
However, in the e-Visa portal, “Pham Ngu Lao Ward” was not available in the drop-down menu of Ward/Commune, so I selected “Ben Thanh Ward” instead. Despite this, I again received the same amendment notice, which leaves me unsure how to proceed.
It will be great help if you could guide me to solve the issue.
Thanks

Hello durbarmsn. Welcome to the expat.com Vietnam forum. Sorry to hear of the difficulty your experiencing.
Amend your application to reflect the following.
Residential address in Viet Nam * = 99 Bui Vien Hotel, 99 Bui Vien Street (enter nothing else in this field)
Province/city * = HO CHI MINH City
Ward / commune * = BEN THANH WARD
Intended border gate of entry * = Tan Son Nhat Int Airport (Ho Chi Minh City) (I'm assuming this is your intended entry point)
Intended border gate of exit * = Tan Son Nhat Int Airport (Ho Chi Minh City) (again, my assumption)
When is your expected arrival date? If soon, it might be in your best interest to use the services of a trusted and proven Vietnam visa agent to expedite your application approval.
If you do have time, amend and resubmit your application. Please let the forum know the results, and of course feel free to ask any further questions you may have.
edit: I have asked admin to remove two duplicate posts submitted. Please refrain from posting the same inquiry multiple times. We'll do our best to help you, rest assured.
Hello, I have the same issue and I've already been denied 5 times. can you please help @Aidan. The address I provided is: Anpha Boutique Hotel, 202 Le Thanh Ton Street, Ben Thanh Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City

Hello CedSed. Welcome to the expat.com Vietnam forum.
Sorry to hear of the trouble you're having.
As of July 1st, 2025, there are no longer any districts in Vietnam. Unfortunately, none of the booking sites/hotels I've viewed have updated their site to reflect this.
Late August, Vietnam's eVisa application portal was updated to reflect this countrywide zoning change, and the field to enter a district has been removed.
You should amend your application to show the following...
Residential address in Viet Nam* = Anpha Boutique Hotel, 202 Le Thanh Ton Street (include nothing else in this field!)
Province/city* = HO CHI MINH City (from drop-down box)
Ward / commune* = BEN THAN WARD (from drop-down box)
Your expat.com profile shows you as being a French citizen.
Is this the passport you will be travelling under? If not, please let us know as this may affect your application.
Please let the forum know the results of your eVisa amendment/resubmission.
Good luck, and hope to hear back from you with good news!
edit: thank you for the PM and for your kind words. Much appreciated.
The hotel's telephone number you have appears to be correct.
Hello,
thank you for the quick reply. I live in France but will be travelling with a Togolese passport. I will make the changes and let you know how it goes.
Thank you again

Thank you again - @CedSed
You're quite welcome.
I'm hoping your application gets approved this time. That said, due to your Tongo citizenship your application will be subjected to enhanced scrutiny by immigration. If after resubmitting your application it is again denied, please let us know the precise reasons given by immigration for each of the denials.
Citizens of many countries are having their eVisa applications thoroughly reviewed. There is no official list of those countries, and until I read the prior denial reasons I wouldn't be able to fathom a guess as to whether this is the case with your application.
Should you wish to use the services of a local Vietnam visa agent, please let us know and we can refer you to a proven, trusted local agent used by many of our members. In situations where the application is submitted by a citizen of a country subject to enhanced scrutiny, only a local visa agent will be able to expedite approval of the eVisa application.
Okay, fingers crossed, and here's hoping your 6th application submission is approved.
Do let us know the results.
edit: no member of expat.com has any financial interest in referring members to a visa agent. We do so only in an effort to assist fellow members in receiving approval.
Ah, I see.
I submitted an attempt Tuesday before I posted to the forum, so I'm hoping to get a denial before Friday. I will provide the detail info at that point (FYI it still included the district).
My flight is on the 15th of October, so maybe I need to go directly to a local Vietnam visa agent to avoid any risk at that point?

Not sure I understand. Included the district, where? There is no field on the eVisa application to include a district.
Are you applying through the official immigration web portal?
Hi,
Apologies for the confusion. I wanted to clarify my last message regarding my visa application.
I have already submitted my application via the official website, evisa.gov.vn. When I submitted it, I included the district in my address (i.e., "Anpha Boutique Hotel, 202 Le Thanh Ton Street, Ben Thanh Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City"), which I now understand was a mistake.
My plan is to wait for the denial, which I anticipate since I submitted the application on Wednesday. Once it is denied, I will re-submit the address in the format you advised.
In the meantime, could you please share the information of a local Vietnam visa agent? I'm starting to worry a bit as my flight is in 20 days.
Thank you for your help.

Good plan. You've still got two weeks+ before your intended arrival date, so that gives you enough time to amend/resubmit again (if the current submission is denied).

Hello,
I have once again been denied.
Reason being: Reason: You are required to provide a correct address where you will stay and contact phone number in Viet Nam. If your information is inappropriate, your application would be refused
Residential address in Viet Nam: Anpha Boutique Hotel, 202 Le Thanh Ton Street
Province/city: Ho chi minh city
Ward/commune: BEN THANH WARD
Phone number (in Viet Nam): +33 0625767792
I have contacted an agency (https://www.vietnam-visa.com/) but they told me that given the short notice and my country of origin, they are not even willing to try. Do you happen to know other companies that might be willing to help? Maybe use the address of my second hotel (in Vung Tau)

Hi CedSed. Very frustrating, I'm well aware.
I see the phone number you have supplied is incorrect. Vietnam's country code is +84, not 33. Also, when completing the application, since it asks for the telephone number in Vietnam, you should not include a country code.
The officially registered telephone number for Anpha Boutique Hotel should be input as
0822 883 799.
Make the telephone number amendment, and resubmit. Oh, and cross your fingers. I wish I could tell you more.
How many denials have you received so far, and have the reasons for the denials started to repeat themselves? If they have, that might be a good sign, as members from countries experiencing the issue you are having have reported that when immigration starts repeating the denial reasons it at times resulted in the application finally being approved.
I have contacted an agency ([link under review]/) but they told me that given the short notice and my country of origin, they are not even willing to try. Do you happen to know other companies that might be willing to help?
The visa agency I referred you to is the largest in Vietnam, and due to their having earned the trust of our expat.com members is the only agency I am familiar enough with to vouch for. There are many local agencies, but their value/trustworthiness I can't comment on. Caveat emptor, as they (used to) say.
(any other members reading this have a visa agency recommendation for member CedSed?)
Maybe use the address of my second hotel (in Vung Tau)
I suggest you not change the address you've been submitting on the application, as this will serve only to complicate/confuse matters. Stick with the Anpha Boutique address. Believe me when I tell you that unfortunately it isn't the hotel, nor the hotel's address, which is causing you grief.
Hello,
apologies, I thought I had replied. I followed your advice. They are now saying: You are required to complete all the blanks in the application form.
The only blank space is the ""identity Card" which is not required. Have you heard of this issue in the past?
Thanks again for all your help.

Okay, good on the address.
The only blank space is the ""identity Card" which is not required.
You are correct in it not being a mandatory field. That said, members have reported inputting either their SSN (Social Security Number, USA), SIN (Social Insurance Number, Canada), Passport Number, etc., and having it accepted by immigration.
If you are not issued a unique identification number by the Tongo gov't, I suggest you input your passport number.
Have you heard of this issue in the past?
Many, many times. If immigration stays true to form, don't be surprised to receive another denial, probably with yet another (though different) denial reason and a request for your amendment. As mentioned in previous posts in this thread, some members had reported amending/resubmitting their application more than a dozen times, with at least two members resubmitting 15 times before receiving approval.
Your intended arrival date is rapidly approaching. Are you able to change your dates? If so, I suggest you input some form of i.d. number and resubmit. Bear in mind that there is no guarantee of your application being accepted, regardless of the number of times you resubmit. Patience and flexibility of dates will be required to see this through.
If your travel dates cannot be changed, I suggest you might want to consider an alternative travel destination.
Yes, we're very much aware of the frustration this causes people.
Thanks again for all your help. - @CedSed
You're welcome, of course. We'll stick with you through this. Please keep the forum updated.

Your profile identifies you as "Lithuanian".
Are you using a Lithuanian passport, and are you applying from within Lithuania?
@OceanBeach92107
yes, exactly, using Lithuanian passport and applying from Lithuania for a tourist visa.
p.s. hotel name is Hera Luxury Hotel

Hi there sidorolga, and welcome to the expat.com Vietnam forum.
Your temporary residential address in Vietnam should be input as...
Residential address in Viet Nam* = Hera Luxury Hotel, 19 Hau Giang (include nothing else in this line)
Province/City* = Ho Chi Minh City
Ward / commune* = Phuong Tan Binh
Intended border gate of entry*= Tan Son Nhat Int Airport (I'm assuming this)

Good day,
unfortunately my application denied again.
Reason: You are required to provide a correct address where you will stay and contact phone number in Viet Nam.
What could be wrong? Does calling to Vietnam Ambassy help in such cases?
Thank you, Olga
p.s. Phone number (in Viet Nam) on application is: 0903 060 706

Drat! Sorry to hear that, sidorolga.
The information which you've provided on your application is correct. You are experiencing the same issue as many other members. The issue is not the information supplied on your application, but rather it is most likely due to your Lithuanian citizenship. See the posts addressed to member CedSed , starting withpost #729 above.
Due to your having only two weeks left before your departure date, I suggest you seek the services of a local, trusted Vietnam visa agent. If you'd like I can send you the contact details for a local agent which has been used by other of our members, with success.
@Aidan in HCMC
yes, please, send me the contact of the agent. Thank you a lot!

Excellent news, and thank you for reporting back to the forum!
Did you use the services of the visa agent, or did immigration approve after the amendment(s) you'd made? I hope it was without the agency as that would indicate that Lithuania is not on the list of countries whose citizens are experiencing difficulties with the process.
Feel free to ask any further questions you might have regarding Vietnam in general.
Again, thank you so very much for reporting back to us. It's greatly appreciated.

I used the service of vietnam***. Could continue to struggle with the application, but I was short of time.

Okay, understood, and thank you for the report.
Glad it worked for you. Hoping you enjoy your time in Vietnam!
hey guys, I used the agency help but they couldn’t do anything regarding the evisa so we went the visa on arrival route and it worked out. Thank you for your help, especially Aidan. Landed in HCMC this AM.

Excellent news, CedSed! Thank you for letting us know.
We don't get many members arriving through the VOA process. When you have time, would you please share with the forum your impression/experience visiting via a VOA?
What was the cost to you?
How long after applying did you receive your Vietnam Visa approval letter?
Does the approval letter contain the name of a tour agency?
What is the permitted length of stay showing on your visa?
Any other info you'd be comfortable sharing with us would be great. As I mentioned, not a lot of our members go the VOA route.
I really hope you enjoy your stay here, and of course should you have any questions feel free to open a new topic for discussion, here. Lots of very helpful expat.com members ready to help.
Hello,
apologies for the late reply.
as far as your questions:
- We don't get many members arriving through the VOA process. When you have time, would you please share with the forum your impression/experience visiting via a VOA? --> It was a fast and smooth experience. I got the letter in 5 days and the company was very responsive.
- What was the cost to you?--> Unfortunately, given that I was short on time, I had to pay $300. I would advise that people who come from countries that may present issues, they start applying 3 months ahead and if it is not accepted go through to this route (100$ if you apply early I believe).
- How long after applying did you receive your Vietnam Visa approval letter?--> 5 days
- Does the approval letter contain the name of a tour agency? --> Yes, it does
- What is the permitted length of stay showing on your visa? --> 30 days
