Best way to get a long term visa

Tdeane2521

My girlfriend and I want to go to Vietnam for a year. We have consistent income every month so we wouldn’t need jobs. What would the best way to get a long term visa? Border runs seem too inconvenient and there’s always a chance we could be denied re-entry. Can we get student visas just to study the Vietnamese language?

Hello Tdeane2521, and welcome to the expat.com Vietnam forum.

If your intent is to visit Vietnam for a year without the obligation of doing border runs, there is the option of a 1 year business visa. This will require the investment of 600,000,000VND.

A student visa can be had upon your application to a recognized VN university being accepted. Upon acceptance of your application, the school itself will apply on your behalf for the student visa. This visa will expire at the end of the course's study period.

If indeed your intent is to spend only 1 year here, this would require you to make only 3 border runs. There have been no reports from members of their being denied reentry.

Hope this helps. Once again, welcome to the forum.

@Tdeane2521 Hello, you can go to the immigration department on District 1 to renew all visas. There is no "Real" one year visas that I know of in Vietnam. Even if you pay for the yearly one that some visa services are pushing. Vietnam requires you to leave and re-enter. I know, crazy. You don't have to do the border run either. "Before" your current visa expires, you "Must" go to get it renewed. You can do a walk-in with District 1, pay the visa renewal fee and the exit entry stamps all there at the same time! Go at least 1 to 2 weeks before it expires in case something has changed. You can call in advance to be on the safe side. - @Shrimpy777

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY WRONG. It appears from your syntax that you were here previously (maybe before COVID).

I hope ADMIN will delete your post AND my quote of it so that no one is misled.
