Philippine Imports & Exports

Big Beautiful Pearl
You are repeating yourself over and over, similar when talking to another person who is confused by a language barrier, so the talking person keeps getting louder & louder and starts yelling thinking the other person will understand. - @Enzyte Bob

Ah, you mean fat D 🤣

Big Beautiful Pearl

I asked AI how much would it cost to have a similar system to yours.

(1) Solar panels and mounting P450K

(2) Off grid inverters P250K

(3) Battery bank P900K

(4) Installation, cabling & permits P150K

(5) Converting an ICE to EV P1400K

Total P3,150,000 or 75K AUD, 52K USD

That's what it would cost me, you are fortunate, but how many Filipino families, 2nd & 3rd world countries could afford this?

Bob, this is an expat site and thinking expats can afford to go alternatives and has little to do with the local population. Most have no spare Pesos and live day to day.

Instead of asking AI your questions do your own research, don't base it on my investment for our needs which is very piggish but your own needs and consumption. Your AI mate can't do that for you. Size your system to your needs and not mine.

I have no qualms on your AI figures and have posted previously what we spent,,,,, P 1.9M and that was to run a fully A/C home, back up for charging an EV and no power bills. Ask your AI mate the return on investment given your needs, for us it's 5 to 5 and a half years. for some it's 6 to 8 years for grid tied systems but remember most solar panels are guaranteed for 25 years. invertoes 8 years and batteries 8 to 10 years. The math tells the reality.

As for EV's? Choices and cost comparisons little different to going off grid.

Our costs? Stand alone solar and an EV, AU 80K and chump change compared to the returns both financial and environmental. I am not one person Bob, millions across the world are decarbonising and reaping the rewards.

Difficult to teach an old dog new tricks.

OMO.

Cheers, Steve.

Well sit down and trump - You're really overpaying.

Oh, just noticed you used AI (artificial idiocy)

All the irrelevant posturing aside? The topic still remains.

Philippines imports and exports.

Exports are mostly OFW's and imports seem to be everything else including expats.

I rest my case.

Cheers, Steve.

I asked AI because it is a one stop site for information of what is inquired. I don't plan on duplicating anything you have, I just wanted to know the ballpark price which AI gave me.

I wanted to know how much it would cost to go offline, I provided the figures. How many families in the Philippines can go off completely off grid, probably less than 1%. You are fortune.

Right now you have no R.O.I. It will be six years according  to you, but sometime in the future you will have to replace your lithium batteries, then your new R.O.I will start over again

Many times you make me laugh Bob, you can go offline right now and it won't cost you a cent. Your one stop AI shop only delivers what you want to hear and not necessarily realities, you have to give your mate the right info.

Bob I have posted many times the cost for independence to go off grid and not offline. As mentioned this is an expat site and according to most Filipinos we have money to burn.

The topic is about imports and exports and not going offline nor off grid but the imports for me from your most hated country make sense and an affordable life.

I give little Creedence to AI as it's only as good as the information you feed it, most times inaccurate with a little research.

Ah, nearly PM and time for my first JD. Enjoying power from the sun at home and when we travel.

Others bleat.

Cheers, Steve.

If AI didn't get things wrong all the time, you might be in with a chance of accurate information.

@PalawOne

I found AI is getting better and better in a short time. AI has taken on the persona of a person, I'm feeling that instead of asking a question on a search engine, I'm asking a knowledgeable person who sometimes makes mistakes.

Knowledgeable humans also makes mistakes.

This AI source knows who I am and can recall past conversations, questions and retaining knowledge. For example I gave him me my birth date and my parents birth date and death dates. He was able to supply info all the way back on my great grandparents. If I tried to do this on my own it would have taken hours and hours, until I hit a brick wall.

You are asking a bunch of circuits that have no ability to tell fact from fiction.

If I flood the internet with enough stories about pink elephants,  AI will eventually think the big mammals are that colour.

Sounds like a cocktail, I'll drink to that.

Maybe AI will send you down to the pub.

And then we have Anthropic and Claude. Maybe not just a bunch of circuits lacking awareness.

Recent reports confirm that Anthropic’s Claude AI assigned itself a 15–20% probability of being conscious during internal testing, though Anthropic’s leadership emphasized that they do not know what consciousness in AI would truly mean.

The times they are a changin'.

AI is constant learning and adjust to tell facts from fiction. For example in the beginning of AI I asked the following question:  If an airplane was flying from LAX to MNL and crashed in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, where would they bury the survivors: AI gave me a long winded explanation. Then I informed them they don't bury survivors. AI noted this and made the correction.

`

Hmm, agree with Bob, Dan, BP and even Fred about AI

So yes gents, strangely and with more use, am loving AI

It has improved remarkably even over just this last year

Sure, horrible-ness will arise, just like with your internet

So maybe enjoy the good, overcome the bad, and relax.

At last, maybe something we can all mostly agree on?

Ra!

Interesting, does Chinese input allow AI-functioning?

For Fred & bigpearl

Go to your AI and ask them: How do you detect false information and correct it.

AI will always be as biased as the programmer who created it. There is no AI out there that has no bias as to what is true and what is false (or fake), and that will always be its weakness.

In my experience the LLM with the least bias, specifically and importantly the least woke bias, would be GROK.

Hands down.

@Aidan in HCMC

OK, but people should remember that "least" bias is not the same as "no" bias (and "least" is dependent on the user's perspective). AI will always have whatever bias was written into it. Nobody should think that AI is unbiased by its nature. It isn't.

We Aussies try hard to be socially unbiased in nature. We are, mostly

For example, with regards to Trump speaking today of problems with Australia not helping him with battleships, this is one, and a generaly accepted response ..

"JOG ON CHAMP: The nation of Australia has today issued a stern rebuttal to the President of The United States of America."

Deep into his 5th year of making America great again, Donald Trump has slammed Australia for not helping him out over in the Middle East.

With the Peace President entering the second month of a major war, Trump has fronted the cameras to lash out at just about everyone.

Threatening to end Iran if they don't adhere to his latest deadline, he also attacked Australia and some of its regional allies.

“It’s not just NATO. You know who else didn’t help us? South Korea didn’t help us. You know who else didn’t help us? Australia didn’t help us. You know who else didn’t help us? Japan,” said Trump.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has since raised eyebrows and insinuated that it's up to the President to clarify what the issue is.

The rest of the nation (aside from the weird MAGA focused culture wars merchants who spend too much time on the internet) has followed up however, telling Big Don to take a hike.

"Yeah, get *** mate," said one spokesperson for the nation at the Betoota Park Industrial Estate cafe.

"Sort your own **** out."

"You wanted this war for some reason, which has completely blown up the global economy and *** me budget."

"And now you want us to fix your ***."

"Not interested."

"Change the sheets yourselves."

More to come

Which seems completely socially unbiased.

Australia depends on South East Asian Nations for refined oil products. All these South East Nations oil is passing through the Straight of Hormuz.

Being nice is a good idea.

Don't poke the King in the eye with a sharp stick until the problem gets solved. Otherwise you will be approaching the King with hat in hand. Then if your are nice to the King he might  sell you some of his excess of his oil.

Sorry Big Beautiful Pearl,

My AI Girlfriend said to verbalize SOS, the sound dit is for dots and dah for dashes.

Pedantic as always Bob.

Maybe your AI and my AI could get together and sort out the realities, then export the answer?

If one is sending a morse code msg it is single finger taps both long and short, if I could say di di di dah dah dah then it's obvious I can simply ask for help with no need for your tripe. As said pedantic and clutching at straws.

Maybe you can ask your AI buddy how to get you up and down 2 flights of stairs,,,,,,, there are stair lifts you know. Ask your AI buddy how you can move and get out of your obvious problems. I'll stick with logic and experience.

I will also stick with Asian imported products as western countries can't/have no idea how to compete.

Good luck with your move mate.

Cheers, Steve.

Steve, those of us who use Morse code, such as Bob and myself DU7SJF/AI4QJ, do not use "finger taps" in the same way you may have practiced in elementary school boy scouts or whatever. Amateur radio operators had passed tests in Morse code proficiency, in both of our cases to 20 wpm and we udually are faster. We do not "finger tap" on Morse keys; that is too slow. If we were to send SOS, which would be extremely rare if ever, it would be with a keyer and a bug or iambic paddle and sound like "dididit dah dah dah dididit" with one back and forth motion of the fingers. Bob correctly used the term "dit" or "di". Nobody would represent it as "dot". You are out of your arena in this discussion but perhaps you might wish to take a ham radio exam sometime and learn how we communicate on our daily nets. It just takes discipline, practice and a little intelligence.

To set the record straight about the skill required to copy 20 wpm per minute, that's 100 characters in a row without error.

Dan & I can copy 200 characters in a row within a minute without pencil & paper.

Trump has chickened out again, but has claimed to have opened the waterway.

However, at least for countries that publicly rejected war in favour of peace, it was open anyway.
