my name is kasumi, i'm currently in Thailand for 6 months but in japan, I live in Osaka. so i hope i could help you.
seeing your profile you will come to Osaka university, will you?
generally, the rent around there costs about 50,000 yen.(i guess, between 25,000~80,000yen) but if you live in a dorm of university, it costs much more cheep.

and, to eat,
at university, generally we can eat with 300 yen. but if you eat a lot, it costs little bit more. but it's not expensive in the university.

and if you eat out, it depends on what you eat or where you go..
for example..
Gyudon(a bowl of rice topped with beef) or Udon(japanese noodles) costs about 300 yen to 600 yen. but if you eat at other restaurant, it costs about 1000 yen. (but it depends !)
and of course, if you go to a high rank restaurant, you know, it costs mooore. lol

so, I think it's enough 100,000 yen for 1 month.
it depends on what you do there, how often you go out, what you buy etc.
