Bank acc (hsbc) opened with KITA* stays active after visa expiry?

You should contact the bank before the KITAS expires.

A valid KITAS is amongst the requirements to legally hold a normal account here.

I'm not a banker but I do have an HSBC account here. You need a Kitas or Kitap to open a bank account in Indonesia but once it's opened I very much doubt it will be closed if your Kitas expires. For example, a Kitas expires after one year, but I am pretty sure your bank will never contact you again asking for a new Kitas, they have never contacted me. However, I cannot speak for your situation if you change your address to a country outside of Indonesia.

As for HSBC Indonesia, they are generally very easy going and they have never asked me to give them an updated Kitas in the past 10 years. But then, my address has always been in Indonesia. HSBC are  very international, I have an HSBC account in the UK with my registered address in Indonesia and an HSBC account in Malaysia with my address in Indonesia. Indonesia is a bit different because you must have a Kitas to open an account but you'd have to speak to them directly to confirm one hundred percent whether your account would be closed. If your address and telephone number changes to one outside Indonesia that might make a difference, but I doubt it.

Once you opend the account, you will not be asked again for a kitas. You get a new debit/credit card once they expire send to the address it's noted in your account.

When you want to add a securities account to your existing account, you need to show your Kitas again.

Address changes can be easily done in the online version, but not in the mobile app.

When you want to close your account, because you leave Indonesia as your Kitas expires and you head on to a new country, you need an exit only permit (EPO) to do so.

YES! This information is correct. Your bank account remains open until you close it.

I just moved back. I could see the account balance at the ATM. I transferred funds in. Then I couldn't withdraw them. I went to the bank, and they said I needed to bring my new kitas.

Debit card expired?

My Kitas expired and I left 10.23. I got a new job and Kitas only 08.24. I returned before the job with VoA (no Kitas yet and not even applied for it yet) . Still everything worked with my HSBC acciunt.
