It looks like the first day of fasting is on Tuesday 12 (To be confirmed).

If you're not a Muslim, it is strongly recommended to avoid eating and drinking in public.

Restaurants will have their windows covered, and 85% of the country will be fasting the whole month or, in about 50% of cases, most of it as stipulated by Islamic rules.

Whilst not a lot is likely to happen to people not fasting, it's generally considered extremely rude to eat or drink in public.

I'm unsure how Bali treats fasting but that majority Hindu area likely carries on as usual.

Jakarta. In anticipation of the holy month of Ramadan, Jakarta's Tourism and Creative Economy Agency will temporarily close several nightlife venues and massage services.

The head of the agency, Andhika Permata, stated that this measure is taken as a sign of respect for the sacred month of Ramadan and the Eid al-Fitr celebration. The closure will affect various businesses starting from the day before the beginning of Ramadan and continuing throughout the month.

Tourism-related businesses, such as nightclubs, discos, steam baths, massage parlors, and adult manual and electronic gaming arenas, will be closed from one day before Ramadan on March, 10 until the third day of Eid al-Fitr on April 14.

Not all, but a number of massage places offer a lot more than a massage - You can add to the 91 thousand AIDS cases in that city after visit them.
