The news for the week of May 9, 2022: a rise in bus and metro fares and few changes with telephone operators and internet providers.

Increase in bus and metro fares

The news was expected. The Minister of Transport and Light Rail announced on Saturday May 7 that bus and metro fares would increase by Rs 5 to Rs 10 depending on the route. The minimum fare for a bus ride goes from Rs 12 to Rs 17 and the maximum fare goes from Rs 37 to Rs 47.

Telephone and mobile operators news

MyT launched its e-sim which will allow users to connect on two devices without the need for a physical sim card. To benefit from it, all users must register on the MyT.mu site. Additionally, the operator announced that network users will get free calls, texts and mobile internet on May 17 to celebrate a million subscribers.

New also at Emtel, another large operator, which has just launched its mobile payment application m-payment.
